It can be challenging to make popcorn from scratch. Keeping the kernels from burning at the bottom of the pan is just as important as getting as many of them to pop.

But we can't deny that a perfect serving of popcorn can bring great joy.

Ingredients

Three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil

A third cup of premium popcorn kernels

One tablespoon of butter, or more if desired

Add salt to taste

Steps to making popcorn

Warm up the oil:

1. In a 3-quart saucepan with a thick bottom, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Let all of the solid oil melt if you're using coconut oil.

2. Add three or four kernels of popcorn to the oil: Await the popping of the popcorn kernels.

3. Include the remaining popcorn: Add the remaining 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels in an even layer after the kernels pop.

4. Put a lid on the pot, turn off the heat, and wait 30 seconds.

In order to get all of the other kernels to pop at around the same time when they are placed back on the heat, this approach first warms the oil to the proper temperature and then waits 30 seconds.

5. Put the pan back on the burner. The popcorn should start popping all at once. Move the pan back and forth over the burner to give it a little shake once the popping begins to occur seriously.

6. Turn off the heat and quickly pour the popcorn into a large bowl after the popping has slowed to a few seconds between pops. Almost all kernels pop using this method, and nothing burns.

7. Melt butter in the hot, empty pan: If you want to melt butter, you can simply put it in the hot, empty pan.

8. To taste, add salt to the popcorn.
